Home Weighing Your Parrot

parrot scaleWeighing An Important Must?

Weighing your parrot is a great habit to get in the practice of.

Purchasing a gram scale gives you a good indication of what is going on with your parrot.  A mature parrots weight should not fluctuate to any great degree.  If your parrot was to lose more than 10% without giving you an indication that something might be going on with your feathered friend get him checked as something probably is wrong.

So for example:  If you have a parrot that weighs 100 grams a fluctuation of 10 grams would be significant and you should look into what has changed.

I routinely weigh my parrots at the beginning of each month. Remember to weigh them first thing in the morning after their morning dropping. This allows for the weight measurement to be fairly consistent.
