Home A Guide to Parrots as Companions

Welcome ... to the Companion Fids Website

Parrot CartoonWhat is a Companion Fid?

"Fid" is a name used on the internet to refer to "feathered kids" or "parrots". Do I believe owning a parrot is like having a kid? No, but there are some qualities you should consider before bringing these wonderful creatures (companions) into your home. Sharing your home with a parrot is not a hobby ... it's a lifestyle!

Qualifications?

I am not a parrot breeder. My experience is from the pet perspective only. I do not claim to be an expert. I however do have 10 companion parrots, of a variety of species, that I do share my home and life with. This website might help you if you are deciding on adding a parrot to your home. I make no claims that my findings are the only way to share your home with a companion parrot. These pages just describe what works in my environment and home.

What's New -

Format of the site is being changed (a few pages are not completed yet).  Many  new photos ... enjoy!

This Website

This website will not detail about parrots in the wild. There are many existing websites that detail this information. This website is based on the companion parrots within my home. Please Note: Every parrot will have his or her own personality traits. We cannot label a parrot to have a particular personality characteristic just because it is a certain species.
