Home Halloween Wreath Fun

Halloween Wreath Fun!

This toy is a great toy for dismantling. Lots of fun, lots of textures. However, please remember to watch how your parrot plays with this toy. Remove any areas that are frayed or loose. Safety is #1.

Items Needed:

  • hemp cord - (untreated)
  • large wreath (untreated - for chewing)
  • large quick link
  • dried corn husks (or whatever material you would like for shredding)
  • large bead
  • plastic halloween fork/knife/spoon
  • halloween straws
  • halloween baby booties
  • halloween plastic toy rings
  • large whiffle ball - orange
  • glue (elmers children's glue)
  • all of these toys parts came from the dollar storeparrot toy parts

Process:

Cut a piece of hemp cord at least 20" long.  Take your large bead and place it in the center of the hemp cord.  Pull the hemp cord from either side of the bead and run it through the large whiffle ball.  Tie a knot.

With the remainder of the hemp cord wrap it tightly around the wreath (making sure not to leave any areas where your bird can get caught) tie a knot.  Cut another piece of hemp rope and attach your quick link.

Stuff the whiffle ball with the dried corn husks.  Drill a hole in your halloween knife/fork and spoon.  Tie them where desired onto the wreath using hemp cord.

Next take 1 of your baby booties and place a small hole through the material at the bottom of the bootie.  Then take a piece of hemp cord at least 9 inches long, fold it in half and tie a knot.  Pull this cord tight to the bottom of the bootie.  Now tie the bootie to the wreath.  The bootie allows an area of the wreath that can hold foraging items, eg. nut.

Next take 2 of the straws from the halloween straw package and cut off the end area of the straw as it is too long for the wreath.  Add the cut portions of the straws to the whiffle ball for stuffing.  Glue the straw skeleton characters to your wreath.  Take the halloween plastic rings and pull off the back piece if desired (plastic too).  Glue the halloween ring pieces to the wreath.  Add some of the ring pieces to the whiffle ball between the holes.

Enjoy your finished toy project!
